On the 12th of September we went in to St. James Primary Academy in Pokesdown to talk to students and staff about the work we do and what they can do to reduce waste and become more environmentally sustainble.
Looking through the bins We had a full day at the school; first an assembly session where we talked about where the ocean starts and the dangers of single use plastic and litter. Followed by workshops with all year groups where we, amongst other things, were looking at the content of lunch boxes and school waste bins 🗑 !!
St. James Saves the World St James was running a two week project called ‘ST JAMES IS SAVING THE WORLD’. During these two weeks children and staff learnt about sustainability from every angle; the problem with single use plastic and litter, better recycling, composting, the technicalities of global warming and much much more.
Investment in the future We see this project as a great investment in the future of these kids and the planet 🌎 and hope that more schools will do the same.
Different speakers As well as coming in and talking to the school ourselves we assisted them in getting a range of different speakers to talk to the children, such as Leave Only Footprints and the Dorset Devils.
