Easy
plastic free
swaps

We have made this list of suggestions for changes that you can make on different areas to become more sustainable and use less disposable plastic in your everyday.

  • Kitchen swaps
  • Bathroom swaps
  • Food swaps
  • Washing swaps
  • Wardrobe swaps
  • Dining in or out

We will keep adding to this lists, so let us know if you’ve found something that we should add to them.

To start off a couple of key things: Plan ahead - take your own bags, containers and don’t be shy!
By just being aware, you can make some easy swaps on your shopping trips.

Most shops don’t mind, you’re ultimately saving them money, and don’t fall for the hygiene excuse (note to self)!

Top 10 plastic free swaps

  1. A reusable bag or 2!
  2. Reusable water bottle
  3. Carry your own cup or even a flask
  4. Lunch box – no need for cling film, reuse what you have Tupperware or an old plastic takeaway box, as it’s not going anywhere soon.
  5. Say no to plastic cutlery and carry your own– it can be the same as you use at home no need to buy new
  6. Refuse plastic produce bags, have some dedicated cloth bags or containers.  We probably all have too many reusable bags dedicate a few to certain produce – including one for clothes.
  7. Buy bread from a bakers (take your own bag)
  8. Meat and fish from butchers/ fishmongers or farmers market (take your own container)
  9. Left overs can be stored in glass jars in the fridge
  10. Bamboo toothbrushes
